The Relationship Clinic is a Christ-centered counseling practice in Chesapeake, Virginia, dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families heal what’s broken and grow into who God created them to be. Through a unique integration of biblical wisdom, psychological insight, and our proprietary Relational Discernment Theory™ (RDT) and Relational Attunement Model™ (RAM), we provide a clear path toward restoration, emotional safety, and meaningful transformation.
Whether you’re facing relational pain, personal struggles, cycles of conflict, or spiritual disconnection, we offer a place where healing can begin and where hope can return.

To restore relationships, repair broken hearts, cultivate spiritual maturity, and equip Christian counselors, pastors, and ministry leaders to serve others with compassion, clarity, and competence.
We believe that healing is both a spiritual and emotional journey. When individuals understand their stories, break unhealthy patterns, and reconnect with God’s design for relationships, transformation becomes possible.
At TRC, counseling is more than a conversation, t’s a process of healing, discovery, and restoration. We serve people from every stage of life, including:
Our counseling approach creates a safe, supportive environment where trust rebuilds, clarity emerges, and lasting change becomes possible.
Unlike traditional counseling alone, our method blends proven clinical practices, such as CBT, Family Systems Theory, and Polyvagal insight with a deeply biblical framework that reflects God’s design for relationships.
A pioneering model developed by Dr. Chuck Carrington, RDT helps clients understand the “why behind the what”, the core patterns, wounds, and beliefs shaping their relational experiences.
This model guides clients into healthier relational patterns through empathy, emotional understanding, and constructive engagement, helping restore connection where it’s been lost.

Dr. Chuck Carrington, PhD, MA, EdS is a highly respected Christian counselor, author, and speaker with more than three decades of experience helping individuals, couples, and families pursue emotional healing, spiritual growth, and restored relationships. A specialist in marriage restoration, betrayal trauma, men’s character development, and complex relational wounds, Dr. Chuck brings a rare combination of biblical wisdom, clinical insight, and practical relational guidance.
With a counseling style marked by warmth, honesty, and deep clarity, he helps clients understand the patterns that keep them stuck and discover the path toward healing, connection, and lasting transformation. Dr Chuck oversees the daily operations of the clinic, mentors the human services team, and trains the clinicians in our unique application of RDT/Ram methodologies alongside the Clinical Supervisor's own mental health training and focus.

Melissa Presley, LPC is a highly skilled Christian counselor and our Clinical Supervisor, overseeing our impressive staff of university interns and residents.
In long association with Dr Chuck from her former days as an intern at Virginia Beach Christian Counseling, Melissa has been a rock solid partner in addressing many clients with emotional and unique needs, using an eclectic toolbox of skills.
